The timeline varies based on material availability and scheduling, but most projects follow a similar path. After you select your material, we schedule templating within a few days. Fabrication takes one to two weeks, depending on complexity and our production schedule. Installation typically takes one day for standard kitchens, and up to two for larger or more complex projects. From your initial selection to finished installation, expect three to four weeks in most cases.
Most granite benefits from periodic sealing, though some denser varieties need it less frequently. We perform a water test to determine if your specific granite needs sealing. Place a few drops of water on the surface and check whether it darkens within a few minutes. If it does, sealing helps protect against stains. Typically, sealing once or twice per year works well for most Atlanta homes. The process takes just minutes and uses products available at any hardware store.
This confuses people all the time because the names sound similar. Quartzite is a natural stone formed from sandstone under heat and pressure. It’s extremely hard and durable, requires sealing like granite, and features natural patterns. Quartz is an engineered stone made from crushed quartz mixed with resins. It’s non-porous, needs no sealing, and comes in consistent patterns and colors. Choose quartzite for natural stone with exceptional durability. Pick quartz if you prefer low maintenance and specific color options.
Absolutely, though material selection matters for outdoor applications. Granite performs excellently outdoors because it withstands temperature fluctuations, UV exposure, and weather without deteriorating. Some quartzites also work well in covered outdoor areas. We generally don’t recommend marble for outdoor use in Atlanta’s climate, as freeze-thaw cycles can cause issues. Quartz manufacturers vary in their outdoor warranties, so if you’re set on quartz for your outdoor kitchen, we’ll verify which products are specifically rated for exterior installation.
Start by considering your cabinet color, floor, and overall design style. Dark cabinets pair beautifully with lighter granite to create contrast, while light cabinets can handle either light or dark stone, depending on the look you want. Bring cabinet door, paint chip, or flooring samples to our showroom so we can see how different granites complement your existing elements.
